Will skim coating straighten a badly bowed wall?

Is every skim coat a Level 5 finish?

No. Level 5 refers to a specified gypsum-board finishing system. A skim coat over an existing wall should be described by its actual scope and substrate, rather than using that label for every repair.

Can dark paint reveal imperfections?

Strong side lighting and higher-sheen finishes can make surface variations more apparent. Discuss those choices before preparation so the finish scope matches the room.
